“Falling into fear, anxiety, and weariness is easy to do as a youth. Whether from my own sin or blinding myself with constant pride and selfishness in my relationships, I find myself in a pattern of being spiritually far from the Lord. In Matthew 11:28-29, the Lord says that these things are not from Him, and he calls his followers away from these heavy and laborious burdens. The song “O come all you heavy laden” has been a wonderful reminder that the lord is my rest and I can find true lasting rest in him. During these times I am prayerful and reliant on the Lord to refresh my heart, transform my mind, and relieve my strife; He is faithful to answer.” - Brennly
"I became a single mom at 19, which came with both joy and challenges, along with consequences and shame. For years, I wrestled with faith and doubt, unaware of how deeply God longed for a closer relationship with me. However, when I wholeheartedly embraced Jesus and saw His word as my guiding light, my faith and trust in Him began to grow. The joy that had been hidden behind my sins and circumstances resurfaced as I accepted His perfect plan for my life and my family's.
I discovered the incredible kindness of His heart: where shame existed, grace took over. Where doubt crept in, faith was increased. In my weaknesses, I witnessed His mighty strength. The more I came to Him in prayer, the more I experienced amazing answers and supernatural miracles in my family's life." – Robyn Crafton
"When I was 14, I was placed in foster care. In my second and final placement, I met my foster parents who would later become my actual parents. They shared a love with me that I had never experienced before. Soon after, I gave my life to Christ, as I truly wanted to follow and chase after God with all that I was. A few years went by, and I found myself loving the creation more than the creator. I was lost and felt so alone because I had traded the truth for a lie. However, I knew that the only thing that would never leave me and always fulfill me was Jesus.
So, when I sing, “I am set apart, not left alone; my God will never leave me wanting," I remember who I am and whose I am. Only God the creator is worth being praised, and He will always fulfill me." - Q.J.
The song "The Light" was inspired by the first chapter of John; how Jesus calls us out of the darkness of the grave and into his Light. This anthem invites the worshiper to come and see what Jesus has done and what he is going to do to resurrect our lives from the grave. Early this year, As We Gather hosted worshipers and leaders from several different churches to record a new live worship album. Recorded and tracked live in one take, the new album is available on all streaming platforms May 26, 2023 titled, O Come All You Heavy Laden.
Following the story of the resurrection closely, this new song, “The Victory,” helps us worship the risen savior through the victory he has given us in life. “The Victory is Jesus, He has won! Rescued from our sins, hope has come!” Victory: a success or triumph over an enemy in battle or war. Our King has defeated death once and for all! Jesus has risen from the grave and has now claimed the victory over sin. He now offers you hope, peace, and love by having a relationship with Him. This Easter, we can rejoice in His victory over sin and live in the freedom we find in Christ. He loves you and wants to know you.
We use magnification (or a magnifying glass) to make objects larger in order to see them better. In this anthem, “O Magnify,” the Church is worshiping loudly so the world can hear how great Jesus is. “O, Magnify His glorious name! Make large the way of the Lord!” On Palm Sunday, people rejoiced as Jesus made His entrance into the city. They shouted “Hosanna”, God save us now, while King Jesus rode into town on a colt.
Have you ever stood and surveyed damage after a large storm? You might have internally counted the cost of all the damage while gazing over the area. In the hymn, “When I Survey The Wondrous Cross,” Isaac Watts looks at the damage done to our Savior, and helps us see the cost paid for our sin. With a newly written chorus, “His blood has made me free, His pain is my relief,” we continue looking to the cross for the payment of our debt and to the hope we have in Jesus because of his sacrifice.
